The Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve is a 800 acre open space area. The Reserve is jointly owned by the Olivenhain Water District and the Bureau of Land Management. The center of the reserve is being prepared for a future lake. The park is a very well managed park with trails both for bikers and equestrians. The park trails are well marked so it really isn't necessary to have a map. For park information call (760) 753-6466.

There are over 17 miles of trails in the park, including some of the best single track in the coastal hills. The Way Up trail is a difficult climb but the rewards as you get to the singletrack at the top is worth it. The Elfin Forest has lots of singletrack. Because it is a multi-use park be careful to watch for horses and hikers while riding on the twisting trails.
