Trails

Lake Hodges is one of the premiiere riding sites for beginner to intermediate riders. There may not be very much in the way of technical riding, but the lake offers some very refreshing rides along the hills surrounding the lake.

North Shore (East)

Topo Map Elevation Map

The trails of the North shore are the perfect place for beginning riders or riders with families. The main trails on the eastern part of the north shore are two utility roads. One oof the trails runs close to the lake and the other is up the side of the hill. There are a number of short trails that add a little bit of dificulty to the ride. Even though it is a beginner trail I would reccommend it to advanced riders looking for a little variety. Both roads, but especially the lake side trail, are wide allowing for riders to get a good workout despite the amount of traffic on the trails. Remember your rules of the trail while riding on these ffamily oriented trails.

North Shore (West)

Elevation Map

From the parking lot this trail runs west toward the dam. The trail is mainly a easy, but sometimes twist singletrack. After initial rides on the east trail, a novice would be well served to try this as their first shot at single track riding. Even though this trail is not as crowded as the eastern trail you must still keep your eye out for hikers and novice users.

Southern Trail

Topo Map

The trail on the southern end of the lake offer a greater variety. All of the trails on this sifde of the lake are also relatively easy. There are two hills that may give some difficulty due to their steepness. However, they are relatively short and can be easily walked for a great view from the top.

Around the Lake

It is rumored that you can ride the entire distance aroun Lake Hodges. It appears that a trail heading along the South end of the lake will allow you to go the whole distance. From the East end of the lake, it is legal to ride accross the freeway bridge. If you have details on these rides please let me know.
