There are three good places to start your ride in Mission Trails, depending on the area you wish to explore.
Mission Dam
Take Hwy. 52 to Mission Gorge Rd. or Mission Gorge Rd. from I-8 or Hwy. 67. Look for the north entrance to Father Junipero Serra Trail. This entrance is next to a condo complex on the west side of Mission Gorge Rd. Take Father Serra Trail west and park anywhere along the stretch of road. Parking lots are available at Kumeyaay Lake and Old Mission Dam. Trails start at the low river crossing and at the Mission Dam.
Visitor Center
Take Hwy. 52 to Mission Gorge Rd. or Mission Gorge Rd. from I-8 or Hwy. 67. Look for the South entrance to Father Junipero Serra Trail. Turn onto Father Serra Trail. The Visitor Center is on the Left. Park anywhere. The Visitor Center loop trail and the Father Serra Trail (the road) start from here.
West Fortuna
Take I-15 to the Clairmont Mesa Dr. Exit. Head east on Clairmont Mesa Dr. to Rueda Dr. Take a right on Rueda Dr. and go three blocks to Calle de Vida. Take a left on Calle de Vida. The Trailhead is about 200 yards up Calle de Vida, on your left.
