Trails

Sycamore Canyon is a nice area to ride as a break from the closer city rides such as San Clemente, Los penasquitos, or Mission Trails. The park's size makes it possible to do a complete loop of the park in just over an hour. None of the trails have official names, but the park staff is in the process of creating a map for the park that may name the trails.

Ridge Trail

Topo Map Elevation Map

This trail leaves the parking lot on top of the eastern ridge of the canyon. This trail works its way over a set of small rises and then turns onto a nice singletrack down into the valley.

Valley Floor

Topo Map Elevation Map

A utility road runs the length of Sycamore Canyon. It starts from Santee Lakes to the south and ends at the Sycamore Canyon Rd. parking lot. Most of the road is level, with a climb at the end to get to the parking lot. Two singletrack trails run along the valley floor on either side of the utility road. During the winter months there are a number of creek crossings, many of which are just wide enough to try to jump across.

Martha's Grove Trail

Elevation Map

The Martha's Grove Trail is the best trail in the park. After an initial climb, it becomes a technical decent into the small oak grove. After the grove, the trail winds along the creek bed until you return to the valley floor. Martha's grove is a very popular trail with all users, so be careful when riding fast along this twisting singletrack.
